The Tennessee Highway Patrol is launching a campaign to end distracted driving. ‘Operation Hands Free’ begins April 4 with distracted-driving bus tours in Memphis, Nashville, Chattanooga and Knoxville.
THP is partnering with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) , AAA – The Auto Club Group, and traffic safety partners across Tennessee for the program.
The purpose of Operation Hands Free is to reduce distracted-driving crashes and fatalities by increasing enforcement efforts and educating citizens about the states’ hands-free laws, the release said.
TDOT is helping by using digital highway message boards to spread awareness.
