The Knox County Health Department (KCHD) encourages everyone to celebrate the holidays safely by getting their flu and COVID-19 vaccinations this month, including the updated COVID-19 boosters. So far, Knox County has seen a rise in flu cases earlier than has been seen in previous years.
“If you haven’t had a flu vaccine this season, it’s not too late,” said KCHD Director of Nursing Dena Mashburn. “Vaccination is still the best protection available from this virus and its potentially serious complications.”
Along with flu, COVID is still present in the community. Like the flu, the vaccine is the best and most important step you can take to prevent illness.
With both viruses still active in the community, KCHD has partnered with the City of Knoxville to offer three community vaccination clinics this month. The primary COVID-19 vaccine series, updated COVID-19 boosters, and flu vaccines will be available at the following locations:
- Tuesday, Dec. 20 from 9 a.m. – noon at the City County Building (400 Main Street)
- Wednesday, Dec. 21 from 9 a.m. – noon at the Public Works Building (3131 Morris Ave.)
- Thursday, Dec. 22 from 9 a.m. – noon at the Civic Auditorium and Coliseum (500 Howard Baker Ave.)
