A group of nearly 30 law enforcement officers, first responders and health care professionals will graduate from Crisis Intervention Team training on Friday, April 14, 2023.
The graduates will undergo 40 hours of intensive training, which helps them identify mental health resources to assist individuals in crisis. The training connects officers with mental health professionals who can provide support when a challenging situation occurs. In addition, participants learn verbal de-escalation skills and experience scenario-based training on responding to crises.
CIT training benefits officers and the community in numerous ways, including diverting nonviolent offenders from overcrowded jails, decreasing arrests and fewer injuries to officers and community members.
