Hand Up for Women, a local nonprofit dedicated to empowering women towards self-sufficiency, is set to receive proceeds from Fleet Feet Knoxville’s annual Hot to Trot Races on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 23. This long standing partnership has contributed to the nonprofit’s mission for the past decade. The funds raised, $10,000, will directly support women enrolled in the program as they overcome adversity and strive for self-sufficiency.
Hand UP for Women offers a unique blend of life management, career readiness and spiritual development courses, guiding women towards a fulfilling and abundant life free from loneliness and fear. Participants learn valuable life skills, character development and career readiness, enabling them to wisely manage their lives. Through securing stable employment, they not only meet their own needs but also create a secure future for their families. Donations will enable more women to participate in Hand Up for Women’s transformational classes and mentoring sessions, which span an 18-month period. The raised funds will facilitate the journey of these women towards healthier, sober and safer lives for themselves and their families.
The Hot to Trot races include a 5K and 10K, as well as a one-mile Fun Run. The 5K race starts at 11619 Parkside Drive, right in front of Fleet Feet Knoxville, and winds through the picturesque Turkey Creek Area. The 10K race follows a two-loop course, while the Fun Run is a one-mile out-and-back route along Parkside Drive
