(Knoxville, TN) – We all know how expensive a pair of brand-name shoes can cost. And if you’re on a fixed budget, you might have to hang on to the older ones longer than you want to.
The Knoxville Elks Lodge is making sure children in need have new, comfortable shoes for school. Twice a month on Saturdays, members Dona Minton and Judy Collins operate the “Shoe Room.” It’s on the bottom floor of the Elks and has shelves stocked with name brand shoes, all brand new. The ladies also do the shopping with money raised through the lodge. They make sure all of the sneakers are name brand so the kids “fit in” with their peers wearing brand name clothing.
